SIXTEEN

CHRISTIAN

I’m at Mars when the video goes live. I know it does because Sebastian gave me a heads-up about the timing. And also because my phone proceeds to explode right in the middle of a session with a client. I sneak a peek at it the first couple times it buzzes in my pocket, but then I turn the damn thing off before it burns a hole in my shorts.

After I wave goodbye to my client, I slip into the staff break room behind the front desk and turn my phone on again. It doesn’t do anything at first. So maybe it was just that handful of texts I got. But then the floodgates open. My phone literally heats up in my hand as notifications pop up on the screen faster than I can read them.

“Whoa, what’s going on there?” Sawyer, the front desk guy asks as he pulls a bottle of water from the fridge.

“Uh, nothing.”

“You sure?” He stares at my phone. “Phones don’t usually do that on their own.”

I throw a glare at him, which he shrugs off as he heads for the door. Donnie comes in as Sawyer’s going out.

“Watch out for Christian’s phone. It’s like a ticking time bomb.” Then Sawyer disappears.

Donnie eyes me, then my phone. “What’s wrong with your phone?”

“Nothing’s wrong with it. I’m just getting a lot of notifications, that’s all.” I collapse onto the couch in the break room, extending my legs out in front of me.

“Notifications for what?”

“Ugh.” I slouch down far enough for my head to rest on the back cushion. I haven’t told any of the guys about my foray back into porn. I don’t think they’d have a problem with it, it’s just… I spent so many years distancing myself from that world and now I’m suddenly going back? I don’t know how to explain it to them in a way that doesn’t sound ridiculous.

Sebastian seemed to get it though. With minimal actual explanation too. It was a lot easier to tell him than I thought, honestly. But then, things with Sebastian always seem different than with anyone else. Smoother. Effortless.

Donnie sits at the table in the corner with his lunch. He takes a bite out of his wrap and sits back to chew while studying me from across the room. If I’m going to tell any of the guys at Mars, it’s going to be him. He’s the least likely to give me shit for it.

“I, uh, might’ve done a thing.”

Donnie takes another bite and waits for me to continue.

“A porn thing,” I say quietly.

His eyebrows shoot up and he leans forward. “A what thing?”

I can’t tell if he heard me and just wants to make my life difficult or if he really missed what I said. “A porn thing,” I say, a little louder.

“You’re doing porn again?” Sawyer pops out of freaking nowhere, leaning through the door with a look of glee on his face.

“Oh god.” I cover my face with my hands. Now the entire gym is going to know that I’ve come out of retirement.
